Luka Modric has been named the 2017-18 UEFA Player of the Year, finishing ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohamed Salah.

Modric helped lead Real Madrid to their third straight Champions League title and also guided Croatia to a second place finish in the World Cup.

Luka Modric, Cristiano Ronaldo and Mo Salah are the three nominees for the UEFA Player of the Year award.

Ronaldo, who has won the award on three occasions (2014, 2016 and 2017) and Modric have been selected after winning a third Champions League title in three years.

The remainder of the players making up the top 10 in the voting were: Antoine Griezmann, Leo Messi, Kylian Mbappé, Kevin De Bruyne, Raphaël Varane, Eden Hazard and Sergio Ramos.
